Jaime and Sol's 10.10.10 Black Wedding!

Aloha and Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2011! We are glad to be here.
I have not blogged in such a long time. Months to be exact. And I am sorry for that. Things were very busy for me last year. Nick left for deployment so I concentrated on our cakes and less on blogging. But this year I will balance it all out.
2010 was a great year for our events. We met so many wonderful clients and made some fantastic cakes. All which are my favorite!
Over the holidays I received images from one of our weddings on 10.10.10. A big day for wedding requests. We booked 2 wedding and closed the date off.
This was a great day one because of our couples and two Nick was home for a week between training and deployment so we got to share the day together.

Our first wedding was Jaime and Solomon. A couple we met over a year before. I fell in love with their design concept and after meeting them in person their personalities. They both were fun to work with throughout the year and I am glad I could help celebrate their special day. They chose color being black, silver and tiffany blue and Jaime was wearing a black dress. Yes black and I love it! Anything non traditional I love.

Jaime and Sol used Passion Roots for their Floral and event styling The designs were amazing and stunning. And the flowers were full, beautiful and everywhere.

They also choose Kristen Jones from Kristen Jones Weddings.

RUSSELL TANOUE'S BIRTHDAY BASH!

Aloha!!
I feel honored for the second year in a row i was asked to make Glam Photographer Russell Tanoue's Birthday cake.
Kim Koga threw Russell a party at Pacific Club by invite only and then the after party at Pearl Ultralounge.
If you were one of the 50 people first at The Pacific Club we supplied cookies for the gift bags! And if you went to Pearl then you saw this cake!
The colors for Russell's party were Black and Gold. @ of the hardest colors to work with for a cake. But this cake was awesome.

Russell's next project will be his annual fundraiser for his Project Shine on August 14. We will be donating cookies for gift bags and we will have some mini cupcakes and mini pastries. FRENCH INSPIRED WEDDING AND GROOMS CAKES

Aloha,
I had the pleasure to help Hawaii Bride and Groom Magazine with their booth at the bridal Expo this weekend. These are the 2 cakes I made. The wedding cake has pain painted gold accents and stenciled designs. Brown and ivory with champagne shimmer. I also made a "fabric" flower that was inspired from a flower from a vintage dress i found.This is one of my favorite designs.

Our second cake was a french inspired grooms cake. I hand painted a vintage wine label on molding chocolate, real french macaroons, cheese, fruit and a cigar!! All hand molded. Giving your groom his own special cake is a great way to incorporate his personality into the wedding. Its also a great way to have another flavor cake!!
We make all kinds of groom cakes from beer bottles, and motorcycles, to airplanes and cars.

SET 2 OF HAWAII BRIDE AND GROOM CAKE FEATURE

When Julie Called me from Hawaii Bride and Groom for cakes for a cake feature. I was so excited. One I love working with her and the magazine. But 2, she told me she was having a french theme and that 2 of the cakes would be shot of brasserie Du Vin. Many of you who know me, know that this is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is good, the wine is even better and the atmosphere takes me right back to France. When i need a french fix I go here for it!!

I decided to make 2 very different cakes.

IPOD TOUCH

Aloha!

Coming back from vacation I was excited about our first cake. The Ipod touch! For a special girl turning 14.

I thought no big deal I have an Ipod it will be just like that...nope. I learned a little this cake. The Ipod touch is pretty cool. I never knew you could get online and check email and listen to music and have all these other apps. My Ipod is not like that at all.

I had a fun time making this cake and planning all the apps and even making earphones. Someone even commented to me that their mom thought it was a real Ipod from the photo.

MATCHING DRESS CAKE AND BOUQUET

ALOHA!

I had the pleasure to work with such a wonderful couple not to long ago. They traveled from the mainland to have their wedding on the beach here in Hawaii. Even though it was only the 2 of them they still wanted a small cake. Our bride wanted to have a cake to match her dress and her flowers. So we made a hourglass shaped cake and wrapped the fabric around the cake and matched the fabric flower. We made a sugar flower bouquet for the top of her to match, with orchids, roses and small cherry blossom flowers.

She sent us am email when they returned home to let us know they loved their cake and joked how they would eat it all.

This cake had 2 different flavors since they both like something different. Just one way we try to customize our cakes.

TOWER OF PASTRIES!

Right before we started our vacation we had the pleasure to celebrate our clients wedding with pastries. Pastries are the new trend for weddings for couples who do not want a wedding cake and not everyone does. This pastry tower had a variety of pastries including mini cupcakes, lilikoi macadamia nut cheesecake, mixed mini fruit tarts, lemon tarts and my favorite, linzer bars. I love that we spilled the pastries out onto the table on top of monstera leaves.
